To start with you need to concentrate on a few things like the locality of your restaurant has to be very good. You cannot just decide on any locality. You need people come to your restaurant, so you need to choose a place where people will be willing to come to your restaurant.
First things first, you need to choose what kind of food would you like to cater to. This is the most important of all the things. One more thing that you need to keep into consideration is that you need to sociable. This means that you need to hand pick your employees as well. Choose people who are very warm with a pleasant personality.
Make a plan for your restaurant business. This is another stepping stone that will help you with all the important things. Get your infrastructure and then get all the paperwork in the right place. Then get all the necessary licenses and get the designing done.
Then promote your business in the best possible way. Use your local community centers for promoting your restaurant. You can use the local library or the church for your promotions. You can also use hand bills and post them in the mail boxes. Then you can also go to a mall and give out sample of your food to others. Of course you can use the traditional ways of giving advertisements in the newspapers and magazines for the same.
The most important factor here is patience. You need to have loads of patience to succeed in The Restaurant Business. This will come from your focus in the business. You need to be focused in your business and that will definitely work for you. Your determination is something that you need in order to succeed in the hospitality industry.
Another thing that you need to know is you need to give time any kind of business. Starting A Restaurant Business is no exception to that. You need to give it time to show the results that you want out of it. If you could give time to your business then you need it will flourish the way you want it to. Best Ugly: Restaurant Concepts and Architecture $35.85 How did the James Beard award-winning design and architecture team AvroKO become one of the hottest restaurant design firms in Manhattan? They start with a concept, which blossoms to images, ideas, colours, and objects. One of the design lexicons that stuck with the design team is "best ugly" – a term that AvroKO came across when traveling together in China. The oxymoronic yet interesting term is used to describe something that is beautiful and charming in an offbeat, awkward, and obtuse sort of way. In their design book, "Best Ugly," the thirtysomething design team of best friends shows readers how each idea and concept can be integrated into a sophisticated design touch. For anyone interested in design, restaurants, architecture, or sexy photography, "Best Ugly" is a visual feast. |

Dinner will be at La Cremaillere restaurant. This is close to the famous Place du Tertre, where artists and intellectuals would meet. This small cozy restaurant got its name from the former owner Monsieur Poulbot who was well known in the area for his humanitarian efforts for children.Ending the night at the Lapin Agile, the oldest traditional cabaret in Paris. Charlie Chaplin spent several nights here, one evening playing his violin. A host of Hollywood and other celebrities like Ernest Hemingway, Eleanor Roosevelt, Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh, Paul Newman, Lauren Bacaull, and Henry Miller have all spent some time here. |

Controlling Restaurant & Food Service Labor Costs $21.85 From the parking attendant to the chef, the people who serve your customers are your restaurant. You can have a prime location, a beautiful dining room and impeccably prepared food and have it all spoiled by a rude server, sloppy busperson or an inattentive janitor. Your restaurant’s success is based upon your ability to locate, hire and solidify a group of people into your Customer Service Team. The food service industry has long been plagued with an inadequate workforce and exceptionally high turnover rates. The increased demand for service workers and culture changes within the workforce means less-educated recruits, more non-English-speaking employees and fewer younger people interested in restaurant work. Labor costs typically run 25-35 percent of your budget and, depending upon your menu offerings, can equal or exceed your food costs. Keeping your prime costs (food and payroll) in the 60-69-percent range is your profit-making goal. Simply cutting staff won’t do it though. Your aim should be to get the highest productivity possible for your money. But to save money without losing quality of service, you have to start at square one. This guide has been written to help you tackle the never-ending process of reducing your labor costs. You’ll find practical ideas and suggestions with immediate and long-term results. We’ll help you to examine your attitudes and relationships with the people who represent your business; to develop hiring and training programs to "build" great employees and minimize turnover, to create physical and emotional environments that encourage outstanding performances and produce happy employees and customers, to maximize resources and enhance your profitability. This book is part of the new series from the editors of the "Food Service Professional Magazine. With 15 books on the most relevant food service subjects, theses are the best and most comprehensive books for serious food service operators available today. The Arrows Cookbook: Cooking And Gardening From Maine’s Most Beautiful Farmhouse Restaurant $32.89 Part how-to-garden primer, The Arrows Cookbook combines more than 150 delicious recipes with time-tested techniques for growing herbs, vegetables, and edible flowers in a book that reconnects us to the land and the seasons. Cooking food from the backyard garden or farmers’ market — or even using herbs grown in pots in a sunny window — goes beyond a passion for freshness. On an elemental level, the process reawakens the cook to a cycle of nature that our ancestors understood intuitively but that, for most of us, has been lost in the modern world. When chefs Clark Frasier and Mark Gaier left northern California to open their dream restaurant in southern Maine, they had no intention of becoming culinary pioneers. But in 1988 in Ogunquit, Maine, finding enough fresh vegetables and herbs to power a sophisticated restaurant was indeed a challenge. So, like all can-do Americans, they did something. A ragged field of witchgrass behind the restaurant was turned into a garden where they learned to coax a nine-month growing season out of the chilly earth. They built raised beds, saved seeds, researched heirlooms, consulted experts, and started seedlings. Today, that acre of Maine yields 270 varieties of vegetables, herbs, fruits, and edible flowers that provide 90 percent of the produce served at Arrows. Born of great necessity, the garden is the soul of this destination restaurant. In The Arrows Cookbook, Frasier and Gaier tell us how they do it, charting the timeless journey from seed to supper. Recipes celebrate each season — Asparagus with Mizuna and Blood Orange Vinaigrette and English Pea Soup in spring; Grilled Antipasto Platter and Rib-Eye Steak with Herbs and Caramelized Onions on a summer evening; Napa Cabbage and Apple Cole Slaw and Roast Pork Loin with Rosemary and Garlic for fall; and Escarole and White Bean Soup and Winter Greens with Pink Grapefruit and Red Onion for the chilly, short days of winter. They also offer new takes on such New England classics as Boiled Dinner, Our Way to Steaming Lobster — Southeast Asian Style, as well as a glorious Thanksgiving feast complete with Roast Turkey with Gravy. The book is full of clear advice and instructions that will make you elegantly self-sufficient in both kitchen and garden: how to smoke a trout, preserve herbs, use raised beds to extend the growing season, make your own prosciutto, start seeds indoors, roast salmon on a plank, maximize garden space, freeze berries, select edible flowers, grow heirloom tomatoes, pickle hot peppers, find local farmers and fisherman for fresh meats and seafood, and more. |

Just Like Us: The True Story of Four Mexican Girls Coming of Age in America By Helen Thorpe $16 Just Like Us tells the story of four high school students whose parents entered this country illegally from Mexico. We meet the girls on the eve of their senior prom in Denver, Colorado. All four of the girls have grown up in the United States, and all four want to live the American dream, but only two have documents. As the girls attempt to make it into college, they discover that only the legal pair sees a clear path forward. Their friendships start to divide along lines of immigration status.
Then the political firestorm begins. A Mexican immigrant shoots and kills a police officer. The author happens to be married to the Mayor of Denver, a businessman who made his fortune in the restaurant business. In a bizarre twist, the murderer works at one of the Mayor’s restaurants—under a fake Social Security number. A local Congressman seizes upon the murder as proof of all that is wrong with American society and Colorado becomes the place where national arguments over immigration rage most fiercely. The rest of the girls’ lives play out against this backdrop of intense debate over whether they have any right to live here.
Just Like Us is a coming-of-age story about girlhood and friendship, as well as the resilience required to transcend poverty. It is also a book about identity—what it means to steal an identity, what it means to have a public identity, what it means to inherit an identity from parents. The girls, their families, and the critics who object to their presence allow the reader to watch one of the most complicated social issues of our times unfurl in a major American city. And the perspective of the author gives the reader insight into both the most powerful and the most vulnerable members of American society as they grapple with the same dilemma: Who gets to live in America? And what happens when we don’t agree? |
